Welcome to Paintings by Mary Rogers!

Once a year in the spring my husband and I enjoy taking a trip to the Arboretum in Dallas, Tx. The best time to go there is when everything is in full bloom, and this happens during a certain time there called, "Dallas Blooms." I love water lilies and have always wanted to paint them. While there, we came upon a small pond that was filled with water lilies and lily pads, but this one particular water lily caught my eye. I was able to look at it closely, and what I noticed most about it was it's fullness and it's delicate beauty, and it seemed to me that it was just reaching out towards the sun and the sky and drinking it all in. Looking at it up close, I felt excited about painting it and putting it down on canvas for others to see. It was such a joy for me to paint it!
